Re: Weekday dinner in this downtown a rare thing, May 30 Times:
You recently published an article about where to go for dinner in Brooksville. The writer stated that local restaurants closed for the day at 5 p.m. and people had to turn to the franchise restaurants with 45-minute waits and high-priced entrees.
The article overlooked one local restaurant, 10 minutes from Brooksville, that has been under the same ownership and at the same location for 21 years: the Jersey Cafe.
When it is off-season, there are many evenings we are so slow we do, in fact, lose money.
However, we have year-round customers who rely on us and we make sure we are there for them every evening.
As the franchises continue to pop up all around us, we at the Jersey Cafe realize how hard it is for some places to stay open during the summer months. It is far more difficult to hold on to valuable employees and just-as-valuable year-round customers. We all love when the snowbirds come down. They help us to stay open in the off-season by allowing us to save for the inevitable "rainy days."
The owners, Joe and Val Cuce, feel they have an obligation, not only to their customers, but also to their employees and their families who are counting on steady work.

What's behind omission of the sheriff's name?
Re: Sheriff promotes women to lieutenant, June 12 Times:
This is the lead story on the first page of the Hernando section, yet no reference is made in the article to the identity of that sheriff.
Is this merely sloppy reporting, or is it the result of political bias exhibited by the staff writer and/or editor?
Stanley J. Dumovich, Spring Hill
Editor's note: The article omitted the name of Sheriff Richard Nugent.
