The Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling Division has various drop-off sites for recyclables. Accepted at the following sites: paper (newspaper, paper bags and flattened cardboard), plastic (Nos. 1-2), aluminum and steel cans. Mail, glossy advertisements, plastic window envelopes and colored paper are not accepted. All items must be clean and sorted into correct bins. Call 754-4112, ext. 119, for information.

HERNANDO COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER: parking lot at Broad Street and Bell Avenue.

NORTHWEST WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY: 14450 Landfill Road (off U.S. 98 N). Hours: 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

WAL-MART SUPERCENTER: 13300 Cortez Blvd.

WESLYAN VILLAGE: 8225 Wesley Drive (plastic, steel and aluminum cans only).

WEST HERNANDO MIDDLE SCHOOL: 14325 Ken Austin Parkway (cardboard only).
