TAMPA - After more than a year of searching, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has hired a new fire marshal.

Walthour, with 27 years of fire department experience, served as an assistant fire marshal and fire marshal for Orlando, according to Fire Rescue spokesman Bill Watson.
He will be introduced to his staff today at the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Prevention Division.
Search continuing for handgun stolen in burglary
CLEARWATER - Authorities were searching Thursday for a 9mm handgun they believe two teenagers stole and discarded before police and deputies could catch them.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office made automated phone calls Thursday to a couple of thousand homes and businesses in the area surrounding Lakeview Road and Norwood Avenue, where the boys were arrested Wednesday after a series of home burglaries in which they took the gun and other valuables, authorities said.
It was unknown whether the semiautomatic Glock handgun was loaded, but a clip full of bullets had been stolen with the weapon, said sheriff's Sgt. Clay Littlejohn.
The youths, ages 14 and 16, were arrested on single counts of burglary and armed burglary and were suspected in a handful of other cases. Their names were not made public.
Clearwater police initially responded about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to Barry Road and S Lake Drive, department spokesman Wayne Shelor said. Because sections of the neighborhood are unincorporated, deputies also arrived to look for the boys while a helicopter hovered over the scene.
With the youths in custody, authorities began to search for the gun, then returned Thursday to look again, Clay said.
15-year-old girl held in 26 car thefts
BRANDON - Deputies have accused a 15-year-old Valrico teen of stealing 26 vehicles in Brandon, Valrico and Plant City.
The teenage girl faces 26 counts of grand theft auto in connection with thefts, totaling about $120,000, deputies say.
Deputies say the girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend were taking the vehicles "for the thrill of it," according to a statement by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Most of the vehicles, which were stolen between May 15 and June 13, have been returned to their owners. Detectives say they think the couple may be responsible for more vehicle thefts.
The girl was taken to the juvenile assessment center.
Deputies declined to identify the other suspect, who was recently released from prison for similar crimes, said sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway.
