BLOCK PARTY AT RIDGE MANOR UNITED METHODIST CHURCH: 5 to 8 p.m., 34350 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor. There will be face painting, pony rides, a duck pond, moonwalk, self-defense program, horseshoes, line dancing, free soda and hot dogs and a prayer tent. The youth group will run various game booths. GENEALOGY WORKSHOP: 9:30 a.m. to noon, Lakes Regional Library, 1511 Druid Road, Inverness. This is a free program hosted by the Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Annuttaliga Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The workshop is open to beginning and advanced genealogy researchers of family history who are interested in joining DAR or SAR. There is no cost to attend. JUNETEENTH DAY AND COMMUNITY RALLY: 9 a.m. to noon, on the courthouse steps, Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville. The purpose of the rally is to bring Juneteenth awareness, as well as to rally for open and honest government and environmental justice. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the abolition of slavery, dating back to 1863.
