COMMUNITY GATHERING: Ridge Manor United Methodist Church will host a community block party and numerous activities during its "Celebrate Jesus" outreach program from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church at 34350 Cortez Blvd. in Ridge Manor. The event will include face painting, pony rides, a duck pond, moonwalk, self-defense program, horseshoes, line dancing, free soda and hot dogs, and a prayer tent. FISH AND PICKIN': The Istachatta General Store, 8198 Magnon Drive, Istachatta, will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry and concert beginning at 4 p.m. today. The dinner menu includes fish or chicken, baked beans, grits, coleslaw, hush puppies and tea or coffee. The cost is $6.50 if reserved in advance; $7.50 at the door. JAZZ ON THE BEACH: The Hernando Beach Club, 3145 Flamingo Blvd., Hernando Beach, will present "A Night of Jazz" featuring the Southern Exposure Jazz Band on Saturday. The performance will be outdoors, weather permitting. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. HIGHWAYMEN ART: The Brooksville City Hall Art Gallery's exhibit of 14 landscape paintings by Florida's famed "Highwaymen'' artists continues at the gallery at 201 Howell Ave. in downtown Brooksville. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Admission is free. Call 544-5407 for information.

OUT AND ABOUT: New Port Richey Main Street will have its monthly "Friday Night Fling" from 7 to 11 p.m. today in three areas of the downtown district. From 7 to 11 p.m. in Cavalaire Square, there will be live New Orleans-style jazz, fresh market vendors, hand-rolled cigars and an outdoor movie; from 7 to 9 p.m there will be an art stroll on Grand Boulevard, live entertainment, poetry readings, and jazz at Richey Suncoast Theatre; also from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be a shuttle to the "Palm District" on Main Street west of the Cotee River bridge, with activities at most of the businesses in that area, including a fashion show, photo show, wine tasting, ice cream, live entertainment and art. Food will be available from area restaurants and food vendors.

LOOK AHEAD

FAMILY FEST: St. Anthony Catholic Church will host its "Boot Scootin' Sunday Family Fun Fest" from 1 to 5 p.m. June 25 at Heffernan Hall, 20428 Cortez Blvd. The event will feature the band Daydreams. There will be dancing, raffles, food, games and activities for children, a silent auction and prizes. The cost is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children younger than 10; the cost includes a barbecue lunch and beverages. Call 796-2096.

VOCAL SHOWCASE: Country-pop singer Vic Thompkins and VTO will perform at 2 p.m. June 25 at the Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Tickets are $10 and are available at the box office. Call 683-5113 for information.

CURTAIN CALLS: Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill, will have auditions for the Ray Cooney comedy It Runs in the Family at 7 p.m. June 30 and at 1 p.m July 1 Roles to be cast include seven men and five women, ages 18 to mid 40s and 60s.
