Haas earns Nationwide Tour win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Hunter Haas won the Nationwide Tour's Knoxville Open for the second time in three years, closing with 3-under 69 Sunday for a five-stroke victory over Gary Christian and Parker McLachlin.

Haas finished with a 19-under 269 total on the Fox Den course. The former Oklahoma player jumped from 47th to 10th on the money list with $127,028.

"I'm not going to think ahead," Haas said. "There's still a long way to go and a lot of tournaments left to play."

Haas had five bogeys in four days and finished tied for fifth in fairways hit, tied for eighth in greens in regulation and tied for 10th in putting.

EUROPEAN TOUR: Cesar Monasterio won his first tour title, capturing the Saint-Omer Open in France by one stroke after closing with 4-under 67.

The Argentine, 42, finished with a total of 274, one shot ahead of Martin Maritz of South Africa (71) and Henrik Nystrom of Sweden (73), who led by two shots entering the final round.

DURAMED FUTURES TOUR: Salimah Mussani won her first Futures tournament with 5-under 67 in the final round, giving her a total of 16-under 272.

Ashley Hoagland of Palmetto shot even 72 for a final 2-over 290, tied for 28th. Brooksville's Kelly Lagedrost tied for 33rd with 3-over 291. Finishing in a tie for 42nd, Beth Bauer of Tampa shot 4-over 292. Sookhee Baek of Bradenton finished 71st with 15-over 303. Clearwater's Jenny Gleason missed the cut.
