Suit challenges townhome vote

By TIMES STAFF WRITER
Published June 27, 2006

BAYONET POINT - Steve Byle has filed a lawsuit challenging the approval of plans for Bayonet Point Townhomes, a 362-unit project on State Road 52 a quarter mile west of U.S. 19.

In a 33-page complaint filed last week, Byle repeats the arguments that he made before the Development Review Committee and the County Commission: that townhouses are not allowed on property with multifamily zoning, that the project lacks the required parkland and that the project does not meet various county codes, among other issues.

Byle, a business consultant who lives near the proposed townhouses, asked the court to overturn the county's approval of the project.
