Man accused of attempted murder in a drive-by
ZEPHYRHILLS - A 35-year-old man was charged with attempted second-degree murder Sunday night after authorities say he fired a gun at another man.
According to a Zephyrhills Police Department report, Chris Stromsness, sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle, fired a .357-caliber revolver out the window at 37-year-old Kelly Joe Jackson.
Jackson ducked, according to the report, but suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Earlier that night, gunshots had been reported at Stromsness' house, but when officers, arrived no one was there, police Capt. Randy Belasic said.
Note passed to bank teller asks help, leads to arrest
DADE CITY - A woman approached a teller at an undisclosed Bank of America location Monday morning with a note asking the teller to call police.
Dade City police Capt. David Duff said the woman was having a fight with her boyfriend, John Browdy, 28, over money.
When officers arrived at the bank and spoke with Browdy they found marijuana and a pipe on him, police said. Browdy was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Man comes from woods, robs tow truck operator
ZEPHYRHILLS - Martin Sharrer was just trying to do his job. But when the 44-year-old arrived at Armstrong Avenue at 2 p.m. to tow an abandoned vehicle, a man came out of the woods pointing a gun directly at him.
According to a sheriff's report, the man ordered Sharrer to give up his wallet.
When Sharrer gave up his money, the robber got on a mountain bike and rode back into the woods.
