BB&T announces new roles for 2 executives

By TIMES STAFF WRITER
Published June 28, 2006

BB&T executive William R. Klich will devote all his time to his role as Florida president for the bank based in Winston-Salem, N.C., as of Saturday, the bank said Tuesday. His previous position as president of BB&T's Gulf Coast region will be assumed by Ken Coppedge, who currently serves as president of BB&T's Orlando-based east Florida region.

Klich, who ran St. Petersburg's Republic Bank before it was acquired by BB&T, will continue to be based in St. Petersburg. Coppedge returns to St. Petersburg, where he formerly served as president and chief operating officer of Republic. Coppedge, who joined Republic as its president in 2002, will oversee BB&T activities in these eight counties: Collier, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Monroe, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota.
