TAMPA - Investigators Wednesday went to two motels to arrest two suspects accused of unrelated bank robberies.

Hillsborough sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Lee Easton, 27, of Lutz at 2 a.m. on charges of bank robbery, grand theft of a vehicle and driving with a suspended or canceled license, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Easton is accused of robbing the Bay Cities Bank, 18315 U.S. 41 N, on Tuesday; a Bank of America branch on Dale Mabry Highway on Saturday; and a Wachovia Bank branch on Dale Mabry on June 16.

Deputies arrested Easton at a Super 8 Motel on Fletcher Avenue after receiving an anonymous tip that he was staying there, Carter said.

Wednesday afternoon, Tampa police arrested a suspect accused of robbing a bank and a hospital.

Deputies say Michael D. Paulk walked into a Wachovia Bank branch at 13304 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and handed the teller a note demanding money.

Paulk is also accused of robbing University Community Hospital on June 22.

Deputies say a man walked into the Patient Services Center, where patients go for blood work and lab tests, and handed a note to a cashier that said there was a bomb in the building.

He took money and left.

Paulk, 52, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and threatening to place a destructive device.

Police arrested Paulk at the Oaks Motel on Nebraska Avenue near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Paulk is a former hospital employee, said hospital spokeswoman Phoebe Ochman.
