Bookkeeper stole $60,000

CRYSTAL RIVER - A woman was arrested Thursday and charged by police with stealing more than $60,000 from a local business. Heather Cook, 29, had been pocketing cash receipts before making bank deposits for Rhema Realty, where she worked as a bookkeeper, police said. Officers were called in after the owner, Linda Van Antwerp, realized money was missing from the company's bank accounts. Cook was charged with first-degree grand theft and held at the Citrus County jail with bail set at $10,000. In other county police news: - A Beverly Hills woman was arrested early Thursday after police say she demanded to speak to Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy and then slammed the door on a deputy's head. According to an arrest report, Billie Baughn, 67, called dispatchers saying she needed to speak to a deputy. When deputy Jonathan Behnen arrived at her residence at 996 W Colbert Court, Beverly Hills, she said Sheriff Dawsy wasn't sleeping enough and added that she needed to speak to him, the report said. Behnen refused the request, and Baughn became angry and slammed the door on Behnen's head and foot, according to the report. Baughn was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and held at the Citrus County jail with bail set at $5,000. - A man and a woman were arrested Thursday after police said they sexually abused a 14-year-old girl in Crystal River. Robert Edward Clinedinst, 27, and Heather Anne Whitt, 20, had sex in front of the girl, and Whitt kissed and touched her, according to arrest reports. Clinedinst and Whitt were taken to the Citrus County jail, where Clinedinst was held on $5,000 bail and Whitt on $10,000 bail. Moises Mendoza can be reached at mmendoza@sptimes.com or 860-7337.
