Wallace bolting for Bulls

ESPN.com reported Monday that free agent center Ben Wallace has reached an agreement with the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls were believed to have offered Wallace, the defensive mainstay of the Detroit Pistons the past six seasons, a four-year deal worth $52-million.

The deal can't become official until July 12, when the 2006-07 salary cap is set and contract values computed.

BUCKS: Milwaukee signed second-round draft pick David Noel, the 39th pick in last week's draft who averaged 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds last season as a senior at North Carolina, to a multiyear contract.

HAWKS: Atlanta reportedly reached an agreement with veteran point guard Speedy Claxton, who averaged 12.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds last season with the Hornets.

UM's Fraser called to Hall

BATON ROUGE, La. - Former Miami coach Ron Fraser will be one of 10 people inducted into the new College Baseball Hall of Fame today in Lubbock, Texas.

The Class of 2006 also includes coaches Bobby Winkles of Arizona State, Cliff Gustafson of Texas and Rod Dedeaux of USC, standout former players Bob Horner of Arizona State, Robin Ventura of Oklahoma State, Dave Winfield of Minnesota, Will Clark of Mississippi State and Brooks Kieschnick of Texas, and LSU athletic director and former coach Skip Bertman.

Fraser led Miami to national championships in 1983 and 1985 and compiled a record of 1,271-438-9 (.747) from 1962-92. He led Miami to an NCAA-record 20 consecutive playoff appearances, a streak that is still going at 33.

Redskins safety sued

MIAMI - A man has sued Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, a former University of Miami standout, saying the NFL player brandished a gun at him and repeatedly hit him during a fight last June.

Ryan Hill filed the suit, seeking at least $15,000 in damages, June 27 in Miami-Dade Circuit Court.

Taylor has been fined seven times during his professional career for late hits and other infractions, including a $17,000 penalty for spitting in the face of Bucs running back Michael Pittman during a January playoff game.

Trainer gets four years

BORDEAUX, France - Former cycling trainer Freddy Sergant was sentenced to four years in jail in a trial centered on a doping ring that supplied a cocktail of amphetamines, cocaine and heroin to riders in France and Belgium.

Other sentences ranged from about $1,900 to a 2½-year prison term for former pro cyclist Laurent Roux. He said he would appeal.

SOCCER: Gustavo Upegui Lopez, owner of a Colombian soccer team, was killed during what authorities suspect was a botched kidnapping attempt. ... Italy's Cosimo Maria Ferri, who is charged with match-fixing, was banned for life because he resigned after proceedings against him had begun.

TRACK: Francis Obikwelu of Portugal won the 100 meters in 10.03 seconds at the Athens (Greece) Super Grand Prix Tsiklitiria. Olympic and world 100 champion Justin Gatlin withdrew from the meet because of a mild leg strain. Asafa Powell, who shares Gatlin's world mark of 9.77 seconds, also turned down a late request to run in the meet.
