Man killed trying to cross 674

WIMAUMA - A pedestrian was struck and killed late Monday when he ran in front of a pickup truck.

The man, identified only as a Hispanic between 25 and 35 years old, tried to cross State Road 674 about 9:45 p.m. as the westbound pickup truck approached, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The man was pronounced dead at South Bay Hospital.

The pickup driver, Thomas V. Rossell, 38, of Wimauma, was not injured. According to the patrol, he stopped his 2006 Chevrolet pickup west of the crash scene and waited for investigators to arrive.

No charges have been filed.
