Man beaten, stabbed in melee

CRYSTAL BEACH - Two men and a woman were charged with attempted murder after an argument early Tuesday in which a man was hit over the head with a crowbar and stabbed.

Arrested and charged with one count each of attempted murder, aggravated battery and domestic battery was Harry E. Lebo, 38, of 497 Vincent St. in Crystal Beach.

Also arrested were Eduardo U. Gonzalez and his wife, Mary, of 1429 Illinois Ave. in Palm Harbor. Gonzalez, 41, was charged with one county each of attempted murder and simple battery.

Mary Gonzalez, also 41, was charged with one count of being a principal to attempted murder.

The victim, David Michael Lindenmayer, 38, was flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. Lindenmayer was Lebo's roommate.

According to Pinellas County sheriff's deputies, the fracas started when Lebo and his girlfriend, Diane Moeller, began arguing. Lebo allegedly slapped Moeller and Lindenmayer got between them.

Lebo left and returned with the Gonzalezes. Lebo and Eduardo Gonzalez started arguing with Lindenmayer, sheriff's spokesman Jim Bordner said. During the dispute, Gonzalez told his wife to go out to the truck and get a crowbar.

When she returned, Lindenmayer got a knife to protect himself, Bordner said.

"Eduardo, who is now armed with a crowbar, passes the tool to Lebo and proceeds to disarm Lindenmayer, stabbing him in the arm with his own knife," Bordner said. "During the physical struggle for the knife, Lebo struck Lindenmayer in the head with the crowbar."

Lindenmayer's wife, Christine Nauman, went to help her husband, and Lebo hit her in the face with the crowbar.

Lebo and the Gonzalezes fled in the couple's 2003 black Dodge pickup truck. Deputies found them around 1 a.m. on Illinois Avenue near the Gonzalezes' Palm Harbor home.

Moeller, 51, was not injured. Nauman, 42, was treated at the scene.

Deputies say all involved had been drinking before the arguments broke out. The investigation is continuing.
