A hot time in the botanical gardens

By TIMES STAFF WRITER
Published July 6, 2006

July is the perfect time to feature tropical plants. They adore the heat.

At the USF Botanical Gardens Saturday and Sunday, dozens of vendors will be on hand for the annual Tropical Plant Fair. They will have peppers, hot sauces and barbecue sauces, too. Bring a decorated pepper and get in free.

The fair is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the gardens, off Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, one block north of Fowler Avenue, Tampa. $3 admission; kids free. (813) 974-2329, www.cas.usf.edu/garden.
