The Libertine

SYNOPSIS: Another wonderfully strange Johnny Depp performance can't salvage this grim, grimy tale of 17th century debauchery.

WHAT WE SAID: The St. Petersburg Times gave the movie a C-.

MPAA RATING: R; strong sexuality including dialogue, violence and language

RUNNING TIME: 130 min.

Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School

DIRECTOR: Randall Miller

CAST: Robert Carlyle, Marisa Tomei, John Goodman, Mary Steenburgen, Sean Astin, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny DeVito

SYNOPSIS: A widowed man (Carlyle) stops to help a car accident victim (Goodman), who had been on his way to a reunion with a lost childhood love. The widower then completes the mission for the dying man and finds his own destiny.

WHAT WE SAID: The Times did not review this movie.

RUNNING TIME: 103 min.

The Matador

DIRECTOR: Richard Shepard

CAST: Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Hope Davis, Philip Baker Hall, Dylan Baker

SYNOPSIS: A burned-out assassin (Brosnan) enlists a mild-mannered salesman (Kinnear) for an important hit. Brosnan's wild and woolly performance is one of his best.

WHAT WE SAID: The Times gave the film a B.

MPAA RATING: R; strong profanity and sexuality, violence, alcohol abuse

RUNNING TIME: 96 min.

Stoned

DIRECTOR: Stephen Woolley

SYNOPSIS: A fictionalized account of the sordid life and suspicious death of Rolling Stones co-founder Brian Jones.
