New Interbay civic group elects its first officers

INTERBAY - After months of planning, the Interbay Civic Association had its first official meeting. About 75 residents met at Chiaramonte Elementary, 6001 S Himes Ave., on June 27, said association president Jorge Ugarte. The group elected officers but still must finalize bylaws. They also plan to launch a Web site. Thomas Mixson is vice president, Philip Friedman is treasurer, and Kaye Mixson is secretary. The next meeting is Aug. 9. Ybor chamber to meet at Columbia Restaurant

YBOR CITY - The Ybor City Chamber of Commerce gathers for a tapas buffet from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Columbia Restaurant, 2117 E Seventh Ave.

The public is invited. Cost is $20 for members, $22 to $24 for guests. Call 248-3712, ext. 22 or 24.
