Country concert to help Alzheimer's organization

Wiley Fox and Mikki Taylor will highlight the Alzheimer's Family Organization's Country and Western Benefit Concert at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Jewish Community Center, 9841 Scenic Drive, Port Richey. Dinner will be catered by Brew City Grill. The event will feature dinner, country line dancing lessons and a concert. There will also be raffles, auction and door prizes. Tickets for the event are $20 and $25. The event will be co-sponsored by WQYK-FM. Donors and volunteers are needed. Call (727) 848-8888 or (888) 496-8004.

Screening

A free screening for peripheral arterial disease will be from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, 1395 Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs. PAD is a condition that can have obvious symptoms such as leg pain, or it can have minimal symptoms. It is a buildup of plaque in the arteries that can lesson blood flow and may lead to total blockage of arteries. Call (727) 943-3600 for required reservation.

Support groups

The support groups sponsored by the Alzheimer's Family Organization will meet at two locations this week. On Thursday at 3 p.m., a group will meet at Forest Glen Lodge, 7435 Plathe Road, New Port Richey. Call Karen Jones or Hope Boloyan at (727) 845-0609. On Sunday another group will meet at 2 p.m. at Heritage Park, 37135 Coleman Ave., Dade City. Call Mary Beth Lumbra or Ramona Scott at (352) 567-8615.
