ST. PETERSBURG - The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast's annual alumni awards gala will feature actors and directors Danny Glover and Felix Justice.

The Sept. 29 black-tie event will be the first sizable benefit to take place in the new Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park, which opens this month.

Glover and Justice have given numerous performances of An Evening with Martin and Langston, with Justice portraying civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Glover performing the work of poet Langston Hughes.

Carl Lavender Jr., executive director of Boys & Girls, said Glover is an alumnus of the organization in San Francisco.

Four community leaders who are graduates of the program will be named to the Hall of Fame.

They are Gary Carnes, president and chief executive of All Children's Health Systems, who participated in the program in Cincinnati; Lawrence Hamilton, senior vice president at Tech Data, Ypsilanti, Mich.; Paulette Walker Johnson, artistic director and co-founder of Soulful Arts Dance Academy, Philadelphia; and Ronald Ricardo, a partner in Lewis Birch & Ricardo, west Tampa.

Lighthouse Credit Foundation is the major underwriter for the event. For information, call 546-1032.
