Survey: Oldsmar gets high marks
Residents say they enjoy life in their city, but worry about traffic, taxes and growth.

OLDSMAR - This town's residents seem to agree with the city's motto - that Oldsmar is a great place to live and work. Driving, sometimes, is another matter. In a survey of 1,200 Oldsmar households done in late March through early April, 90 percent of respondents rated the overall quality of life in the 9-square-mile town as excellent or good. But residents cited concerns with traffic, taxes and growth - not surprising, perhaps, for a place where the population has grown from 9,000 to 14,000 in 10 years. "All in all, I thought it was a pretty positive report card," City Manager Bruce Haddock said. Some survey results may influence the city's budget process over the next few years, he said. Haddock said he thought the city would have scored higher on water and sewer services. Forty-eight percent of respondents rated storm drainage as fair or poor while 32 percent rated sewer services as fair or poor.
