Wild Oats store to host local products festival

LINCOLN GARDENS - Wild Oats Natural Marketplace will host a Local Fest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at 1548 N Dale Mabry Highway.

Festivities will include samples of local products, a produce sidewalk sale and family activities, including face painting for kids. Call 874-9435.

Bright Kids Network comes to three Boys & Girls Clubs

TAMPA - Bright House Networks recently launched Bright Kids Network, the company's new comprehensive community outreach program, at three Florida Boys & Girls Clubs.

Bright Kids Network will support afterschool programs by providing money for new programs and scholarships to cover membership fees for youth from low-income and/or single-parent families.

Bright House also will give funding to help renovate the Ybor City Boys & Girls Club, Tampa's oldest club facility.

Jazz artist Rita Wilson will perform Sunday at church

OLD HYDE PARK - Local jazz artist Rita Wilson performs Sunday at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W Platt St., as part of the church's 2006 Summer Music Series.

The annual event began July 16 and concludes July 30, when six pianos will play at once. Worship services are at 8:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Call 253-5388.

Work on stormwater lines closes MacDill Avenue

GANDY/SUN BAY SOUTH - MacDill Avenue between Paxton and Pearl Avenues is closed for the next four to six weeks for the installation of stormwater lines.

Northbound traffic on MacDill at Interbay Boulevard will be detoured west to Himes Avenue. Southbound traffic on MacDill at Gandy Boulevard will be detoured west to Himes.

All trucks will be required to use Dale Mabry Highway during the closure.

Construction under way to relieve Beach Park flooding

BEACH PARK - Construction on Roland Street and Hubert Avenue began this week on a city project designed to relieve neighborhood street and yard flooding.

Crews plan to install about 580 feet of pipe under Roland Street between Manhattan and Lois avenues.

The project, which will take 90 days to complete, will cost about $163,000.

Neuter Scooter to pick up pets for spaying, neutering

FAIROAKS/MANHATTAN MANOR - The Animal Coalition of Tampa is offering a new service to spay and neuter pets.

The Neuter Scooter picks up pets at various locations, takes them to the coalition's South Tampa clinic at 1719 W Lemon St., then returns the pets to the dropoff sites.

Pet owners only pay for the cost of the spaying or neutering.

The next Neuter Scooter pickup will be at 7 a.m. Saturday at Bayshore Grooming, 4804 S Manhattan Ave. Call 250-3900 or go to www.actampa.org for other pickup locations.

LifePath Hospice and Care offers grief support group

PARKVIEW - LifePath Hospice and Palliative Care is offering a free adult grief support group for the county's Spanish-speaking community at 11 a.m. July 28.

The group meets on a monthly basis at the hospice's office, 3010 W Azeele St. Participants need not have used LifePath Hospice services in the past. Registration is required. Call 877-2200, ext. 10609.
