No link in Lunde evidence

TAMPA - The latest batch of physical evidence still doesn't link David Lee Onstott to the killing of 13-year-old Sarah Lunde, according to documents made public Friday. Florida Department of Law Enforcement analysts tested water bottles, tire and shoe impressions, soil and clothing in recent months but didn't make much headway for the state's case, the records show. Onstott is charged with the first-degree murder and attempted sexual battery of Sarah, who was found dead April 16, 2005. He has pleaded not guilty. No usable fingerprints were found on two Zephyrhills water bottles from the crime scene. Tire impressions from the scene couldn't have come from Onstott's Ford pickup or his girlfriend's Chevy Lumina, a report said. Shoe impressions left at the scene didn't match several pairs of his shoes, including Nike Max Air and K-Swiss sneakers, nor could soil found in his shoes be conclusively linked to the crime scene. An analysis of numerous pieces of clothing, including the red shirt Sarah was wearing at the time of her death, did not turn up any indications of blood or semen. The presence of blood was found on sweatpants and jeans shorts, but the report did not link it to Sarah's death.
