TEMPLE TERRACE - Three men used a 2-by-4 board, dumbbell and a baseball bat to hit two people repeatedly in the head and face, according to jail records. A Temple Terrace police report said the incident happened Saturday just before 6 p.m., at 5412 Inverness Lane, Apt. 112. They arrested Willie J. Williams , 30, of 8024 Shadywood Drive, Apt. B, and charged him with attempted first-degree murder. Police also arrested John Broderick Williams, 28, who lives at the same address, on an attempted murder charge. The report also said a third suspect was present. The unidentified victims were taken to Tampa General Hospital. The police report said one suffered a broken jaw and broken teeth.

Boat crash in which boy was hurt still under inquiry

CRYSTAL RIVER - The investigation into a boat crash that injured a 12-year-old boy is continuing, officials say.

On Sunday, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Karen Parker identified the injured boy as T.J. Watson, of Homosassa. He was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday after the boat crash on the Homosassa River. Officials at the hospital could not provide any information on the boy's medical condition.

Watson and other family members were aboard a 23-foot open fisherman boat when it hit Channel Marker 70 in the Homosassa River, commission officials said. It is unclear what caused the crash, but Parker said the driver, Anthony Watson, may have been distracted. He is T.J. Watson's father and is a licensed fishing captain. No charges have been filed. The boat was towed to the commission's office in Crystal River, Parker said.

SUV hits deputy as he makes routine traffic stop

CLEARWATER - A sheriff's deputy was taken to a hospital Sunday after he was hit by a car during a routine traffic stop. Deputy Andrew R. Delay, 40, pulled over a motorcycle driving east on State Road 60 at about 6 p.m. According to the Sheriff's Office, Delay stopped the motorcycle driver, David Shade, 22, of Lutz, to check on him after hearing reports that a motorcycle was down on SR 60.

Shade pulled over in the right turn only lane 650 feet west of Damascus Road. Delay stopped his patrol car behind the motorcycle, and a Ford Explorer stopped behind the patrol car.

When Delay exited his patrol car, the Ford Explorer drove around Delay's car, hitting Delay with the passenger side view mirror. It then crashed into the driver's side door of the patrol car.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, Howard Moreno, 58, of Los Angeles, was cited for careless driving and violating the move over rule, which requires drivers to move away from a law enforcement officer who has pulled over another car. The deputy's injuries were not life threatening.

5,000 lose power in Saturday night storms

ST. PETERSBURG - Storms cut power to 5,000 St. Petersburg customers on Saturday evening, said a Progress Energy spokeswoman. Crews from North Pinellas and Pasco counties helped bring power back to most residents by Saturday night. Several hundred residents were still without power Sunday morning. Power was restored to all customers by noon.

Deputies arrest man on aggravated assault charges

SPRING HILL - Pasco sheriff's deputies say a 47-year-old man fired a revolver at another man and a juvenile late Saturday. Timothy Hamilton, of Spring Hill, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hamilton and Patrick Blanton were fighting at Hamilton's home on Bowman Road. When Blanton and his juvenile son left the residence, Hamilton grabbed a .22 caliber revolver and fired three shots at them, authorities say.
