A Beverly Hills man was arrested early Tuesday morning after authorities say he tried to kill another man by stabbing him. Witnesses told detectives that Peter F. Grey, 24, used a pocket knife to stab 31-year-old Roger Vickers three times in the abdomen during a brawl on S Fillmore Street near Grey's home, a Citrus County Sheriff's Office arrest report said. Vickers was taken to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville with what authorities said are "life threatening injuries." Hospital officials said Tuesday that Vickers was in stable condition following surgery. According to the arrest report, witnesses said Grey went inside a house to wash the pocket knife's blade with a bleach solution and warm water after the stabbing. He later asked another witness to get rid of the knife for him, the report said. After detectives arrested Grey, they said he admitted to stabbing Vickers but added that he was trying to protect himself, the report said. Grey moved to Citrus County from Pasco County a few weeks ago and has a criminal record that includes convictions for burglary and grand theft. He is on probation for a June fraud conviction, records show. News researcher Carolyn Edds contributed to this report. Moises Mendoza can be reached at mmendoza@sptimes.com or 860-7337.
