Plenty of toasts have been raised to good causes, but rarer is the chance to drink for charity.
One such opportunity is the WaZoo beer festival, marking its 11th year Saturday night at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo with more than 200 beverages from around the world. And it isn't just about beer: There also will be a wine garden, food from 25 bay area restaurants and live music on several stages, including local reggae band Impulse.
Last year, more than 4,000 people attended, raising nearly $90,000 for the zoo. So expect crowds. This event isn't recommended for kids, and most of the exhibits will be off-limits, although a few "animal ambassadors" will be on hand.
A variety of ticket packages are available, including some that will get you in at 6:30 p.m., instead of general admission at 8 p.m. Go to www.lowryparkzoo.com or call (813) 935-8552, ext. 276, for details. General admission is $40 at the door; $20 for designated drivers.
