ATV wreck critically injures boy

ODESSA - A 15-year-old boy was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with critical injuries after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating flipped.

Christopher R. Martinez of 8922 Donna Lu Drive was driving the 4-wheel drive ATV and pulling an inflatable raft, which was connected to the vehicle by a tow strap.

The tow strap got caught under the ATV while he was driving not far from his home, causing Martinez to flip off and hit his head on the pavement, Hillsborough County sheriff's Detective Lisa Haber-Bosley said.

Deputies received a 911 call from the accident just after 8 p.m. A hospital spokesperson said he was listed in critical condition late Friday.
