If the name is the same, then sue

Sharing a name with another business can be disastrous. But suing to stop a copycat competitor can work wonders, as several June cases show. Alternative Yellow Pages Inc., a Tarpon Springs company that provides advertiser access to gay and lesbian communities, sued the Alternative Yellow Pages for trademark infringement. Last week, the Phoenix company changed its Web site from thealternative-yellowpages.com to http://thegaypagesinc.com. Help-You-Sell of NW Pasco County Inc., a Port Richey real estate brokerage, was socked by the long arm of litigation when Help-U-Sell Real Estate of Castle Rock, Colo., sued it. Corporate records shows the company changed its nameto Smart Choice Services Inc. the day it was sued. The Zephyrhills company Goin' Postal Inc., which says it operates a 170-store retail shipping chain, never got a response from Goin' Postal Etc. LLC of River Ridge, La. Maybe the Louisiana doppelganger was afraid Goin' Postal would Go Crazy.
