Published August 9, 2006

TAMPA - The Hillsborough School Board has approved a 10 percent raise for teachers, the largest in two decades.

The raises are retroactive to July 1.

Teacher pay will range from $35,012 for a starting teacher with a bachelor's degree to about $65,000 for those currently at the top of the schedule with doctoral degrees. Teachers also can earn extra pay for performance and by working at high-poverty schools.
