Deputies think Publix robber hit toy store BRANDON - A man who detectives think robbed two bay area grocery stores expanded his crime spree Thursday to a Toys "R" Us, investigators said. Hillsborough sheriff's deputies were looking for a man 40 to 50 years old and 160 to 170 pounds, with blond, graying hair. He was possibly driving a black Chevrolet pickup. At 5:30 p.m., the robber approached the cash register at Toys "R" Us, 330 Brandon Town Center, as if he were going to make a purchase. He pulled a gun from the front of his pants and demanded money. Grabbing the cash, he fled on foot, possibly to the truck. The armed robbery was similar to two recent incidents at Publix stores: 11782 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Seffner, about 9 p.m. July 10; and 11255 Causeway Blvd., Brandon, about 9 p.m. Aug. 6. Anyone with information is asked to call (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
