WATERING RULES

Here are lawn watering rules in Hernando County:

Hernando County Utilities customers and irrigation well owners:

Address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8), Tuesdays and Saturdays

Address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9), Wednesdays and Sundays

Those who live in the Wellington, Seven Hills, Glen Lakes and Timber Pines have watering days that differ from the county. To find out what days are allowed for watering, residents should contact their development's homeowners association.

In the city of Brooksville

Address ending with 0 or 1, Monday only

Address ending with 2 or 3, Tuesday only

Address ending with 4 or 5, Wednesday only

Address ending with 6 or 7, Thursday only

Address ending with 8 or 9, Friday only

The following information applies to all:

- All watering must be done before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.

- Nonlawn areas (flower beds, trees, gardens) may be irrigated as needed using hand watering, micro-irrigation and other appropriate low-volume irrigation technology. Hand-watering of lawns is permitted only on the designated watering day(s).

- Newly planted lawn and landscape areas may be watered on any day of the week for a 60-day establishment period that begins the day that the plant material is installed. However, the watering must still be done before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.

- Car washing is permitted with a nozzle to control water flow.

To report violations: Call the county Code Enforcement Department at 754-4056 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours, call the Sheriff's Office at 754-6830 or leave a message at 754-4005 or 520-4015. To report violations in the city of Brooksville, call city Code Enforcement Department at 754-6800.
