Theft probe to follow resignation

By Times Staff
Published August 17, 2006

Steve Myers , the director of human resources for support personnel for Citrus County public schools, has resigned after school officials were told that he took a piece of electronic equipment from a school.

The Citrus School Board is expected to formally accept the resignation when it meets next on Tuesday said Superintendent Sandra "Sam" Himmel .

Myers allegedly took home a DVD player, which has since been returned to the school system, Himmel said Wednesday.

The school system will not conduct an investigation because Myers has already resigned, Himmel said. The Citrus Sheriff's Office, however, is expected to investigate.

Myers had worked in his current administrative job for a year. Before that, he was the principal at Crystal River High School.
