TAMPA - A jury took only a couple hours on Thursday to convict Brian Joseph Lima of killing two young men in Town 'N Country during a gang confrontation.

Lima, 18, a member of the Bloods gang, fired buckshot into a group known as the TNC Boys on Feb. 20. He claimed he shot in self-defense. Prosecutors said he purposefully aimed into a crowd of unarmed teenagers.

Jurors, who began deliberating just after 11 a.m., found Lima guilty of two counts of manslaughter involving a weapon and seven counts of aggravated assault. He faces up to 30 years in prison on the manslaughter charges and a maximum 20-years on the assault charges.

On Wednesday, Circuit Judge J. Rogers Padgett reduced the two most severe charges against Lima from second-degree murder to manslaughter.
