NEW YORK - Rangers manager Buck Showalter (four games) and Angels manager Mike Scioscia (three) and six others were suspended Thursday after two days of trouble.
Tensions began Aug. 6 when Texas' Adam Eaton threw behind Juan Rivera after allowing a homer. Tuesday, Texas' Vicente Padilla (five) threw at a batter after being warned.
Wednesday, the Angels' Kevin Gregg (four) threw behind Michael Young then hit him. Brendan Donnelly (four) relieved and hit Freddy Guzman. Texas' Scott Feldman (six) then hit Adam Kennedy (four), triggering a bench-clearing brawl.
Angels bench coach Ron Roenicke was suspended for one game. The eight suspended also were fined as were Rivera and Angels pitcher John Lackey.
RED SOX GET HINSKE: Boston acquired Eric Hinske and cash from Toronto for a player to be named. The 2002 rookie of the year, who can play outfield, first and third, has 12 homers and 29 RBIs.
CARDINALS: Centerfielder Jim Edmonds, who has missed two games with postconcussion syndrome, said he hopes to play tonight. Edmonds, who crashed into the wall trying to prevent a homer June 21, had a light workout Thursday and reported no headaches, blurred vision or light-headedness.
NATIONALS: Left-handed reliever Micah Bowie went on the disabled list with a strained upper-back muscle. Bowie, 0-1 with a 1.37 ERA in 15 appearances, left after facing three batters Aug. 10.
TIGERS: Catcher Vance Wilson agreed to a $1.9-million, two-year extension through 2008. Backing up Ivan Rodriguez he is hitting .273 with four homers and 15 RBIs in 43 games.
