The zoning hearing master heard the following recommendations for petitions at the Aug. 14 and 15 meetings.
CARROLLWOOD: The Hillsborough County land use staff recommended approval of a helipad to be built by Tony and Debbie Ferguson, who own almost 12 acres of land at 15439 Lake Magdalene Blvd. The Fergusons are also requesting to rezone the property to allow for five residential units, a helicopter hangar, a storage building and a new lot. The proposed site lies between Lake Magdalene and Lake Platt.
Staff members approved the request with the following conditions: no helicopter repair or refueling is permitted, restriction of the flight path over Lake Platt, flying to be restricted to daylight hours and only single-engine, light helicopters allowed. Petition 06-0112
CARROLLWOOD: The staff has recommended approval of Polo Development Co.'s request to increase the allowed square footage of its nearly 2-acre property southeast of Himes Avenue and Busch Boulevard from 7,333 square feet for a sit-down restaurant to 8,300 square feet of restaurant and office space. The building currently on the property is 8,300 square feet. (Petition 06-1143)
CARROLLWOOD: The staff has recommended approval of a rezoning petition at 6610 Gunn Highway. Owner James McNealon wants the almost 1-acre residential property to be rezoned to business professional office use. He has agreed to the staff's requested condition that all buildings on the property have a residential appearance. (Petition 06-1580.
TOWN 'N COUNTRY: Staff has recommended approval of a rezoning petition at 8108 Patterson Road. Property owner Evelyn Blossfield wants to rezone the 1.11-acre property from agriculture to commercial use to fit other changes in the area. An 80-room hotel and 14,900 square feet of retail space have been approved to the west of the property. The staff's only condition is that access be limited to the properties to the north and west with no direct access on Patterson Road allowed. (Petition 06-1372)
