ST. PETERSBURG - Suzanne Fisher is the new director for the National League of Junior Cotillions chapter in south Pinellas County. Her six franchises encompass all of the public and private middle schools south of Ulmerton Road, including the beach communities, Pinellas Park and Seminole.

Fisher succeeds the late Anne Anderson, who established the chapter in the 1990s.

The league focuses on character education, etiquette and social dance training for students in grades 6-8. Its purpose is to instruct young people in social courtesies that can aid relationships with family and friends; to teach life skills; and to teach ballroom dance.

Fisher is also a personal shopper and wardrobe consultant. She was the manager of Coplon's and Johnston of Florida on Beach Drive for many years and has led the Women's Council of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. She was first vice president of the St. Petersburg/Pinellas Business and Professional Women and has been active in numerous charitable efforts.

The National League of Junior Cotillions, established in 1979, has more than 400 chapters in 33 states. Its headquarters is in Charlotte, N.C.
