Man will not tell who stabbed him

The man, an admitted drug dealer, tells deputies his stabbing could be the result of a turf war and he doesn't want their help.

One thing is clear: Ryan Dyer was stabbed 15 times with a black kitchen knife on Friday.

What's unclear is who stabbed him.

That's because Dyer, a self-described drug dealer who says his wounds may be the result of a turf war, told deputies he doesn't want them involved.

Here's Dyer's account of what happened, according to a report from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office:

About 7:10 p.m., Dyer, 22, was standing in the front yard of his home at 7412 Chairman Court in Port Richey, smoking a cigarette. Dyer's mother, Colleen Dyer, and her boyfriend, Chi Taylor, were inside the house.

Then, an unidentified man pulled up in a blue Honda Civic.

Dyer and the unidentified man talked. Then, the unidentified man started yelling and stabbed Dyer, who was in the front yard, and fled.

Colleen Dyer told deputies she was washing dishes in the kitchen and heard the bathroom door slam shut. She said she heard Ryan inside. Taylor asked Ryan to open the door, so he did.

Blood covered Ryan Dyer's abdomen. As Colleen Dyer treated his wounds, Taylor ran to a neighbor's house to call 911.

When Taylor returned, he found a bloody knife in a bathroom wastebasket. When a deputy arrived, Taylor gave the deputy the knife.

Colleen Dyer told the deputy her son may have been outside for about 10 minutes, but she wasn't sure.

Ryan Dyer told the deputy he picked up the knife after the stabbing. He didn't say why.

Asked whether his wounds were self-inflicted, Dyer said no.

But Dyer admitted he was a drug dealer who may have upset the unidentified man for selling drugs "in his area."

Records show Dyer's criminal record, which includes drug possession and burglary, dates back to 1997, when he was 13.

When asked further about the bloody knife, Dyer told a deputy, "I don't want the cops involved."

The extent of Dyer's wounds was not detailed in the reports; he could not be reached for comment.
