Tampa, home to an annual dragon boat race for the past several years, is the host city this weekend for the biannual U.S. National Dragon Boat Racing Championships. The event has two parts: one to choose a Team USA to compete in the 2007 world championships in Sydney, Australia, and one to choose national champion club, corporate and recreational teams.

The opening ceremonies are from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday; racing is from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There's also a dragon boat trade show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, all at Cotanchobee Park, 601 Ice Palace Drive, and in Garrison Channel in the Channelside area of downtown Tampa.
