NEW PORT RICHEY - Police have charged a New Port Richey man with stealing $6,875 from a woman, according to an official report. Kenneth Louis Rose, 40, of 4240 Canterberry Drive in Holiday, admitted that during July and August he took 19 checks from Gwendolyn Weeks' checkbook without her permission, the report said. Rose made the checks payable to himself, forged Weeks' signature and cashed the checks to obtain money, the report said. The report did not detail the relationship between Weeks and Rose and nor how he obtained access to her checkbook. Rose was arrested at the New Port Richey Police Department and taken to the Land O'Lakes Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of $5,250 bail.
