SPRING HILL - Strong coaching and a halftime speech gave Bishop McLaughlin the inspiration it needed to overtake Bradenton Prep in its opener. After going into the locker room down 6-0, the Hurricanes were prompted by coach Jim Ceccarelli to come out more passionate in the second half. "We were definitely intimidated in the beginning," senior quarterback Coleman Hengesbach said. "Coach just told us to stop being scared because this is what we've been working toward all along." The words helped, as a more aggressive Hurricanes offense came out pounding the ball. Led by senior tailback Rob Gallagher (19 carries, 111 yards, touchdown), Bishop McLaughlin racked up 213 yards on the ground and three scores. The Patriots had a lot of success passing the ball, but eventually turnovers did them. Sophomore quarterback Tevaris Hines completed 10-of-15 for 223 yards, but only had one touchdown compared to two interceptions.. - DEREK LaRIVIERE, Times correspondent
