Forum gives closeup of candidates

SEMINOLE - A candidates forum is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Freedom Square, 7800 Liberty Lane. Candidates who have agreed to appear include Mark Schleben, Pat Siracusa, Leanne Lake, George H. Brown, Lorraine Kelly, Jack Day, Glenn Martin, and Mary Handsel, all of whom are seeking judgeships. Also present will be Pinellas County Commissioners Calvin Harris and John Morroni, who are running for re-election, and County Commission candidate Ray Brooks. State House District 51 candidates Dottie Reeder and Bruce Cotton, who are both Republicans, as well as Democrat Janet Long, also have said they will attend. Other candidates who are expected are gubernatorial candidate Max Lynn, U.S. House of Representatives candidate Samm Simpson, and U.S. Senate candidate Leroy Collins Jr. The forum will start at 2 p.m. but candidates may come early to put out campaign literature. The moderator for the forum is Earl Fratus, associate professor of government and history at St. Petersburg College. The public is encouraged to attend.
