Top five movies

By STEVE PERSALL
Published August 31, 2006

Current movies recommended by the Times:

1. World Trade Center - Oliver Stone digs into the rubble of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and discovers heroism.

2. Little Miss Sunshine -Dysfunctional family road trips are a summer movie staple, but this one is smarter, funnier and warmer in spirit than most.

3. Invincible - Even Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans can appreciate this fact-based tale of a bartender (Mark Wahlberg) making the Philadelphia Eagles roster.

4. How to Eat Fried Worms - Thomas Rockwell's tale of peer pressure and friendship makes a fine transition from the page to the screen.

5. Quinceanera - A teenager (Emily Rios) becomes pregnant before her traditional Latino rite of passage but hasn't had sex. Maybe it's a small miracle, like the movie.
