Unbeaten IRC downs district foe

It was far from dominating, but visiting Indian Rocks Christian overcame a Game 2 loss against St. Stephens Episcopal to win 25-13, 21-25, 25-12, 25-18 Tuesday in Bradenton.
"The girls played pretty well in the first game, but Game 2 they just looked dead tired," IRC coach Mark Foster said. "We didn't have a strong practice Friday, were off on Monday and it showed (Tuesday)."
Brianne Yeates led the Eagles with 12 kills and Tabitha Henley registered 33 assists. Kenzie Reynolds finished with nine kills and Jessica Jones had 17 digs for IRC.
The win ran IRC's district record to 4-0 and its overall to 7-0. The Eagles host Class A Calvary Christian on Thursday before travelling to meet district rival Tampa Prep on Tuesday.
EAST LAKE 3, OSCEOLA 0: Lindsey Opperman had 11 kills and nine aces to lead the Eagles to a 25-12, 25-11, 25-9 road win. Sara Rex finished with 10 kills for the winners and Casey Slater added 22 digs. Karly Gilchrest paced East Lake (6-2) with 20 assists. The Eagles next play Tarpon Springs on Thursday and Boca Ciega on Friday.
LARGO 3, PINELLAS PARK 0: The Packers used strong serving on their way to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-12 sweep, improving to 5-1. Amy Cartwright had seven aces, including five during a 12-point serving stretch. Largo's Jendi Miller had 10 kills and four blocks while Desiree Tuazon added nine digs.
