MILWAUKEE - A woman accused of stalking Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Uecker must stay away from him for four years under a restraining order issued Thursday that bars her from attending any game he broadcasts.
A court commissioner issued the order after Ann Ladd testified she would not have further contact with Uecker but still hoped to attend Brewers games.
"I'm a Brewer, a Brewer fan," said Ladd, 45, of Prospect Heights, Ill.
WRIGLEY HONORED: More than 20 landmark buildings, homeowners and businesses were honored for preserving historic Chicago, and among the projects recognized was an expansion of Wrigley Field's bleachers.
The Commission on Chicago Landmarks presented the Chicago Landmark Awards for Preservation Excellence during a ceremony at the LaSalle Bank Theater. The theater, formerly called the Shubert, recently completed a $40-million restoration.
Wrigley Field, home of the Cubs, was built in 1914 and is the second-oldest major-league park.
ASTROS: Former Rays right-hander Brandon Backe had ligament replacement surgery on his pitching elbow, and his recovery is expected to last a year to 18 months. Backe twice sprained the ulnar collateral ligament this season.
NATIONALS: Outfielder Alex Escobar had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
YANKEES: Hideki Matsui was 0-for-3 but walked and scored in a rehab assignment with Double-A Trenton, which lost 10-3 to Portland to tie the Eastern League's Northern Division championship series at 1.
