CAZ PIUROWSKI, TE, FLORIDA STATE
The former Land O'Lakes standout made his first career catch Saturday in a 24-17 win against Troy. The play happened in the third quarter when Drew Weatherford - another Land O'Lakes alumnus - hit Piurowski for a 12-yard gain during the Seminoles' second scoring drive. Piurowski also played in a 24-17 win at Miami in Week 1. Weatherford threw a pass to him in that game, but it fell incomplete.
DANNY TOLLEY, OT, USF
The former Wesley Chapel star earned his first career start Saturday for the Bulls in their 21-20 win against FIU. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound redshirt freshman played right tackle and helped USF gain 297 yards of total offense. Tolley was a Class 3A first-team all-state selection in 2004.
KHALIL MADANI, C, AIR FORCE
Tolley's former high school teammate is out for the year after injuring his shoulder during a boxing class last spring. The injury was recurring so Madani opted for surgery over the summer, hoping to permanently fix the problem. Madani wrote to the Times on Monday.
"Everything out here in Colorado is going well," Madani said. "I got shoulder surgery, but rehab is going great. I know I am going to be better than ever when spring ball rolls around in March."
BEN ALFORD, QB, NORTH IOWA AREA C.C.
The former Pasco quarterback is among the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference leaders in rushing and passing after two games. He has rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns, and thrown for 290 yards a score and three interceptions.
