John Michael Craig, a candidate for the District 3 Hillsborough County Commission seat, announced Tuesday he had withdrawn from the race.

Craig, 51, said health issues forced him to drop out.

That means Republican insurance agent Ken Anthony and Democrat Kevin White, a Tampa City Council member since 1993 and director of corporate security for Rooms to Go, will face off in the Nov. 7 general election.

"They're both real qualified candidates," Craig, who was running with no party affiliation, said of the remaining men.

"They're both deserving, either one, for the job."
