Boy left on hot bus; 3 workers charged

CALLAWAY - Three day care workers are accused of leaving a child in a sweltering bus for hours and then trying to cover up the incident.

Investigators found the temperature inside the bus was 132 degrees on Sept. 1. Keaire Kamau, 5, was treated at a hospital and released.

The three work for the Childcare Network in Callaway. Kenneth Weaver, 47, and Dallas Gore, 18, were charged Monday with child neglect. Weaver's wife, Georgia, 52, was charged with tampering with evidence.

Bay County sheriff's investigators said Kenneth Weaver left the boy on the bus and Gore, at Georgia Weaver's request, marked the child present at day care even though he was not.
