Eagles sweep Patriots

Lindsay Opperman had eight kills, eight aces and 11 digs to lead East Lake 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 over visiting Pinellas Park on Tuesday.

Sara Rex had 14 kills and nine digs for the Eagles and Casey Slater added 19 digs.

The win comes on the heels of an impressive showing by the Eagles (12-6) in the Gatorland Invitational Tournament hosted by Gainesville's P.K. Yonge this past weekend. East Lake finished fourth and Rex was named to the all tournament team.

Fourteen of the 16 teams in the tourney were in the state rankings.

CLEARWATER 3, LARGO 0: The Tornadoes (11-0) remained the county's lone unbeaten team with a 25-8, 25-15, 25-16 win. Clearwater's Kristin Fisher had seven kills and Lauren Rilling finished with six aces.

LAKESIDE CHR. 3, SEFFNER CHR. 1: Lakeside Christian improved to 8-7 with a 21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-13 road win. Kaley Dohme had eight aces and Bethany Holman finished with 14 digs for Lakeside Christian, which next plays Tuesday against Citrus Park.

INDIAN ROCKS, 3 NORTHSIDE CHR. 0: Kenzie Reynolds finished with 14 kills to lead IRC to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-19 victory. Jessica Jones had 20 digs and Tabitha Henley recorded 32 assists for the Golden Eagles (14-1).

COUNTRYSIDE 3, GAITHER 0: Taylor Wilson's nine kills and three aces led the Cougars to a 25-17, 25-11, 25-20 district win over visiting Gaither. Madison Truluck had nine kills for the Cougars (13-1), who play at St. Petersburg on Thursday.
