Patriots lead pack, but not by much
By ERIC MUSKATEVC
Published September 22, 2006
Things are still relatively close across the Pinellas County High School League board. Going into Week 5, Pinellas Park has proved it can score in a variety of ways, leading the boys handicapped (59 points) and scratch sides. The Patriots average in the mid-180s down the roster, and with performances like last week's, they lead Dixie Hollins and St. Petersburg by 5 points in handicapped, and Countryside and Northeast by 2 points in scratch. Todd Kaley (189 average) rolled a week high 243/694, along with teammates Jaise Rizzo's (183 average) 232/652 and Tyler Bordner's (177 average) 204. Tarpon Springs' Ashly Galante again bested the boys' scores with a 727 series. Averaging 215, she featured a 257 game to help keep the Spongers ahead of Northeast by 1 point in scratch with 76 total points. Boca Ciega (62.5 points) busted averages and leads the handicapped side by 2 points over Dixie Hollins and Palm Harbor University. Emily Wollner (165 average) scored a nice 231/607 for Northeast, which is second in scratch, just ahead of PHU who has 73 points. Some exceptional junior varsity bowling has kept the varsity bowlers honest. Seminole leads all squads with 66 points, including games from Mark Dempsey (152 average) of 186 and 189.
