Dunnellon 34, Hernando 14

DUNNELLON - If you want to highlight one play that killed Hernando and led to the Leopards' loss to Dunnellon, look to Hernando's fumbled kickoff late in the third quarter, when it failed to gain possession of the ball.

Hernando had just given up a 14-yard Juwan Franklin touchdown run - the second of his three - and was set to get the ball back. But the football hit the ground on the kickoff, caromed this way and that way, and the Tigers ended up with it.

"It's frustrating, because we gave them seven points, 14 really," said Hernando quarterback Jason Davies. "It's those mental mistakes."

A few plays later, Franklin ran in from 10 yards out, putting Hernando down by two touchdowns, 28-14.

Franklin carried the ball 17 times for 148 yards. Hernando's Robert Smith had 20 carries for 101 yards.
