Scotland's best reunite to give business advice

The country that gave us tartan and Treasure Island, Listerine and Auld Lang Syne is calling its scattered executives together to boost Scotland's business acumen.

This week, John A.K. Lowe is attending globalscot's inaugural conference in Edinburgh, the country's capital. The networking group was created in 2001 to help Scottish companies expand worldwide and to attract foreign investors.

Lowe is the president of Hilltop Global Associates in Treasure Island, a human resources consulting firm. A native of Loanhead, Lowe has been in the United States since 1970.

The Scottish Parliament made Lowe a founding member of the so-called Tartan Network, and since then he's done pro bono consulting for companies in his homeland that are planning to expand overseas.

Jabil Circuit's CFO Forbes Alexander and Amscot Financial's chairman Ian MacKechnie are also members of globalscot.
